Successful Strategies for Preparing Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology Teachers (STEM) for 21st Century Teaching
With support of Texas Instruments, the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future convened a one-day roundtable to discuss methods of preparing STEM teachers to be more effective in the classroom. A group of distinguished thought-leaders, from classroom teachers to industry consultants to professors of education and technology, was assembled for their knowledge of teacher preparation, STEM teaching, and how it can be changed to improve the quality of STEM teaching on a large scale. The discussion focused on 1) defining the components of effective STEM teacher preparation, 2) highlighting where STEM teachers are being effectively prepared around the country, and 3) bringing those effective practices to scale.
