Organizing Schools for Success
What are the opportunities under NCLB and HEA?
For over a decade, NCTAF has advocated for quality teaching in schools organized for success. NCLB and HEA took a big step forward on this agenda by focusing the nation’s attention on teacher quality. Now it is time to finish the job by focusing on what it takes to organize schools for success. Preparing today’s students to participate in a global, knowledge-based economy is a demanding challenge. No teacher should be expected to do this job alone. New NCLB and HEA amendments may give teachers what they need to succeed, by surrounding them with collaborative team environments that support their continuous professional growth and career advancement. On October 24th, NCTAF led a discussion on how these new provisions can be used to improve school performance and close the student achievement gap.
