A National Call to Action: Teaching for America’s Future

Between 2006 and 2007, NCTAF and MetLife Foundation developed four short videos that tell the story of teamwork and collaboration in schools. The schools or districts shown in the videos provide a diverse look at schools and where they are along the continuum of developing genuine learning organizations.

• "PLCs: Accountability in Public Education,"  2007 California State Summit: Jack O'Connell, State Superintendent of Public Instruction discuses preparing students for a rapidly changing global economy.
• "Professional Learning Communities at Central Point School District:" Teachers in the Central Point School District are working together to improve the learning experience for their students. With early release days and collaborative work session, teachers can share best practice methods with colleagues and ultimately bring better instruction to the classroom.
• "Teacher Support: Sherman Oaks Community Charter School:" Sherman Oaks Community Charter School provides an unusual amount of support for its faculty, including ninety minutes of collaborative planning time each day.
