TLINC Highlighted in New Digital Learning Series Paper

The Alliance for Excellent Education’s recent paper, “Culture Shift: Teaching in a Learner-Centered Environment Powered by Digital Learning,” articulates the critical need for teacher preparation to focus more on student learning: “Teacher education […] is at a critical juncture. It must be focused less on learning about teaching and focus more directly on teaching for student learning. We have to front-load clinical experiences and then deepen those experiences with the full engagement of Master teachers.” The paper highlights NCTAF’s TLINC® initiative as a good example of how to build purposeful relationships between teacher preparation institutions and K-12 districts. TLINC helps to align teachers’ training and practice and to maximize clinical training and induction experiences so future teachers have a better understanding of how to support student learning. “TLINC encourages discussions and connections between university work and classroom experiences and builds a feedback loop for graduates with their teacher preparation programs,” enabling teacher education faculty and district personnel to collaborate on continual improvement of their programs.
